CSA

Sadly, there will be no CSA in 2011.  We are no longer on the land at Fuller Street that supported our CSA.  We hope to find something else and renew our community next year.  In the meantime, please visit us at either one of our weekly farmers’ markets.

Week 2:

Wednesday

  • 1 bag spinach
  • Peas  (snap peas, you can eat the whole thing)
  • 2 heads lettuce
  • 1 bag pac choi (good for stir fry)
  • 1 bunch of swiss chard (steam or saute, good in soups)
  • some garlic scapes (the edible flower stalk of the garlic plant, use in place of, or in addition to, garlic for most dishes, not quite as potent as garlic)
  • Pick your own herbs: chives, parsley, oregano

Friday

  • lettuce
  • garlic scapes
  • pac choi
  • spinach
  • swiss chard
  • salad turnips (almost like a radish without the bite, good raw on salads)
  • peas (snap peas you can eat the whole thing)
  • Herbs pick your own: parsley, chives, oregano, cilantro

We wash everything, but we would still recommend giving it all another rinse, especially stuff like spinach. Dave’s recommended recipe for everything is saute with olive oil and garlic (maybe garlic scapes this week). If anyone has any good recipes feel free to share.
